Jumio has announced the launch of ‘selfie.DONE’ a new solution designed to deliver true reusable identity for trusted users.
The new product tackles a key point of friction in the user journey: re-authentication. ‘selfie.DONE’ empowers trusted, returning users to be instantly recognized and reverified with just a selfie. This eliminates the need for users to repeatedly find and rescan their physical ID document, a step that Jumio claims is a major cause of user drop-off.
This launch marks a significant strategic pivot for the identity market, moving beyond one-time Identity Verification (IDV) at onboarding to provide a service for ongoing, continuous authentication. By addressing the security gaps that exist after initial account creation – such as vulnerability to phishing and credential stuffing – Jumio is positioning biometric authentication as a continuous, high-value security feature for every login, password reset, or high-value transaction.
The core of the ‘selfie.DONE’ solution is the “Jumio Identity Graph,” a proprietary technology built from “tens of millions of cross-customer, cross-industry identities from both legitimate and fraudulent transactions.” Jumio states this global, cross-industry network provides a “clear advantage” over “siloed” identity systems. It allows the platform to use a combination of biometric matching, liveness detection, and fraud pattern recognition to make a real-time risk decision. If a fraudster attacks a gaming site and is flagged, that same biometric or device pattern can be blocked when attacking a fintech app on Jumio’s network.
The solution is launching initially in Brazil, with a global rollout to follow. The choice of Brazil is strategic, as its implementation will verify users with a selfie and their Cadastro de Pessoas Físicas (CPF) number. This go-to-market strategy positions ‘selfie.DONE’ as a “compliance-in-a-box” for Brazilian firms in sectors like gaming and fintech, which are facing new government mandates for biometric verification.
Jumio’s move into continuous biometric authentication builds on the company’s AI-powered fraud detection capabilities and reflects growing industry concerns about consumer overconfidence in detecting deepfakes.
