Ireland-based building security solutions company Johnson Controls has announced the integration of Tyco Kantech EntraPass and StoneLock GO systems that will allow for opt-in facial recognition.
The new solutions will allow for a contactless and secure biometric access control option for users at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has placed a greater emphasis on hygienic access control solutions that eliminate or minimize the need to physically touch a shared surface.
With the virus disrupting global economies for the majority of 2020, businesses of all sizes and in all parts of the world are searching for solutions that will allow them to re-open safely. Contactless biometrics have surged in popularity in that time thanks to their hygienic advantages as well as the advanced security they can provide over more traditional methods.
“While an access card or password is susceptible to theft or cloning, StoneLock GO offers unparalleled anti-spoofing and best-in-class False Acceptance Rate,” reads a statement announcing the new integrations. “This method of authentication ensures the people accessing facilities have been granted permission.”
Biometric security specialist StoneLock uses near infrared sensors for its StoneLock GO readers that are capable of scanning and storing unique templates of enrolled users that can be recognized outside of the StoneLock System.
