Iris ID Provides Biometric Attendance System for Iraqi Hotels

Iris ID’s IrisAccess technology is being used to track employee attendance at three hotels in Iraq. The hotels are all part of the Millennium & Copthorne Hotels chain, which is based in London and consists of 135 hotels scattered all over the world.

The three Iraqi hotels are all located in Sulaymaniyah province, which is found in the broader Kurdistan region. The lineup includes the Millennium Kurdistan, the Copthorne Hotel Baranan, and the Millennium Kurdistan Hotel and Spa.

IrisAccess is being deployed alongside Iris ID’s iCAM 7S biometric scanners. The scanners will use iris recognition to verify the identities of employees when they clock into and out of work, and are intended to prevent buddy punching, which is a form of payroll fraud that occurs when one employee signs in a coworker who has not yet arrived.

The system will automate the hotels’ attendance tracking procedures. The iCAM 7S can tilt to find the face and iris of someone standing in front of the scanner, and it is also contactless, so employees do not need to touch a shared device in order to clock in. 

“The process takes a second to complete and is highly intuitive, requiring virtually no employee training to use,” said Iris ID Global Sales and Business Development VP Mohammed Murad. “It’s important in the COVID-19 era, that the technology is contactless and not impacted by employees wearing personal protective equipment such as gloves, masks and goggles.”

Millennium & Copthorne turned to Turkey’s InfoMet Technologies to install the IrisAccess technology. The iCAM 7S units are compatible with the hotels’ existing payroll system.

Inc. recently listed Iris ID as one of the 5,000 fastest growing private companies in the US.  Securiport adopted IrisAccess in July, while the County of Los Angeles is using Iris ID camera modules to verify the identities of prisoners.
