Integrated Biometric Technology to Open New Headquarters in Franklin, TN

Integrated Biometric Technology (IBT) is setting up shop in Franklin, Tennessee. IBT is a fingerprinting specialist founded in 1999 to provide law enforcement agencies with a more modern alternative to traditional ink-and-paper fingerprinting techniques.

Since then, IBT’s technology has been used to conduct biometric enrollment for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The agency started using the company’s fingerprint tech to speed up criminal background checks services in the aftermath of 9/11, largely because digital prints can be matched much more quickly than paper ones. In that regard, IBT’s software lets agents encrypt and send prints via the internet rather than the mail, so agents can bring up someone’s criminal history in a matter of hours instead of weeks.

The Franklin facility will serve as IBT’s new corporate headquarters, and its base of operations more generally. The move is expected to bring 142 new jobs to Williamson County, while IBT has pledged to invest an additional $2.3 million in the local community.

IBT’s fingerprint technology has been integrated into commercial sports and entertainment products, expanding the company’s portfolio beyond law enforcement applications. Allied Market Research has predicted that the fingerprint sensor market will hit $9.41 billion in 2027, while MarketsandMarkets expects it to reach $6 billion by 2025.
