Innovatrics Unveils Multimodal ABIS Enrollment App

Innovatrics is trying to make it easier for organizations to build a comprehensive ABIS database. To that end, the company has released a new enrollment app that enables the collection of face, fingerprint, and iris biometrics on a Windows or Android device.

In that regard, the app can support mobile registration efforts on devices that already have a camera, a fingerprint sensor, and/or an iris scanner. The solution will make its debut in the Coppernic’s ID Platform FAP50 offering, though it is ultimately vendor and device agnostic and can be deployed in any device with the necessary hardware and operating system.

In terms of use cases, Innovatrics indicated that the app was developed specifically with an eye toward elections and law enforcement. The platform is compatible with Innovatrics’ voter registration offering, and allows police officers to gather multiple kinds of biometric data with a single portable device while in the field. In most cases, a police officer or an elections operator will be there to walk individuals through a guided enrollment process, though the improved user workflow also supports self-service enrollment for those who are interested.

Any data collected through the enrollment app is immediately transferred into an Innovatrics ABIS with a REST API. That data remains encrypted in both online and offline settings. Those who do have access to the data can review it right away, and analyze it to make sure that there are not any duplicate entries.

Administrators, meanwhile, can customize the enrollment workflow based on the needs of their organization. The app can account for attributes like brightness, head position, and eye status to capture high quality images in a range of different conditions. It also has an autofill option to speed up the registration process.

Innovatrics’ ABIS technology has already been used to build a biometric voter registry in Guinea. The enrollment app arrives shortly after Innovatrics introduced a new Universal Passport Reader, and updated its Digital Onboarding Toolkit to allow users to scan a document’s Machine Readable Zone with a standard smartphone.
