Innovatrics has launched a new liveness detection solution based on iris biometrics. The company calls it MagnifEye system a “semi-passive” method of liveness detection that prompts an end user to position their eye during a selfie-based identity verification session.
Innovatrics also explained that the eye-scanning system “lays foundations for the multimodal capability of liveness detection,” presumably by combining it with the company’s sophisticated facial recognition technology, which has delivered strong performances in independent testing.
The company says the MagnifEye system is based on Innovatrics’ expertise in passive liveness detection and its longstanding efforts in iris recognition. Last October, Innovatrics’ iris recognition technology attained a top-three ranking for speed and accuracy in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s IREX 10 testing program; and in 2021 the company’s iris recognition technology took the top spot in the Department of Homeland Security’s Biometric Technology Rally.
MagnifEye can be deployed on-premises or on a cloud basis, and its mobile SDK is just 1MB in size, helping to minimize the solution’s footprint.
The product’s launch comes just a couple of weeks after Innovatrics’ announcement of a new facial recognition software development kit focused on smart camera and edge device applications, and its upgrade of Innovatrics ABIS, the company’s mutlimodal biometric solution for civil, criminal, and border control applications.
