Innovatrics has attained the top ranking for accuracy in single-eye iris recognition in the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s ongoing Iris Exchange (“IREX”) evaluation program. The company’s technology also took the second-place spot in two-eye identification, with Innovatrics asserting in a statement that there was “only a negligible difference” between its solution and the top-ranking one in that category.
The achievement comes after Innovatrics’ iris recognition technology placed in the top three for speed and accuracy in the IREX 10 testing program last October. Its technology had also attained the top ranking in testing by the Department of Homeland Security in 2021.
Innovatrics has been promoting its iris recognition solution for a range of potential applications, with a focus on areas requiring particularly strong security, such as border control and national ID programs. The company says its solution offers fast template creation and a relatively small template size.
While the company’s iris recognition technology is evidently impressive, Innovatrics is also known for its sophisticated fingerprint and facial recognition technology. Last month, it launched a facial recognition Software Development Kit supporting face detection, template extraction, on-device biometric matching, and liveness detection.
“Together with this IREX result we already have a leading fingerprint matching algorithm in NIST MINEX and also offer NIST-benchmarked facial recognition as one of only a handful ABIS providers in the world,” asserted Matus Kapusta, the company’s ABIS Business Unit Director.
Innovatrics announced a new liveness detection solution specifically for iris biometrics, dubbed “MagnifEye”, earlier this month. The company described the solution as one that lays the foundation for a multimodal liveness detection system to come.
