Indicio Launches Proven AI for Digital Travel to Verify Passport Credentials in Chat

Indicio has launched Proven AI for Digital Travel, a workflow that enables travelers to present Digital Travel Credential digital passports from a wallet during AI-chat interactions, shifting identity proofing from manual data entry to cryptographic verification.

The platform allows AI agents and chatbots to request credential presentation at the start of a conversation and verify authenticity before handling travel requests, according to a February 9 blog post. Indicio frames the credential as a portable, cryptographically verifiable digital passport credential tied to ICAO Digital Travel Credential concepts.

The Proven AI launch follows NEC X’s investment in Indicio to advance decentralized identity and AI agents announced last November, which underwrote the company’s research and development in secure, agentic travel workflows. The investment positioned Indicio to build tools that combine verifiable credentials with AI agent interactions.

Indicio’s product follows the same modernization trend as the EUDI Wallet pilot Aptitude for digital travel credentials, which is testing credentials across 110 organizations in the European Union. Traveler receptiveness echoes earlier reports such as Finland’s digital travel credential pilot results, where more than 90 percent found the experience easy to use.

The company describes bidirectional trust language: travelers cryptographically prove their identity to AI agents, while agents can also verify that the chatbot endpoint is legitimate. This addresses concerns about phishing and fraudulent travel service providers that could harvest personal information under the guise of booking assistance.

Indicio’s credential verification in chat complements the same multi-vendor orchestration seen when TECH5 and Auctorizium supported Finland’s pioneering digital travel credential, demonstrating how digital identity providers are building interoperable tools for next-generation travel workflows. The approach allows airlines, hotels, and other travel service providers to verify customer identity without storing sensitive passport data.
