The software developer IDrive Online Backup has launched a new IDrive Face solution that will make it easier for other companies to integrate facial recognition features into apps and other products. The IDrive Face platform includes a series of user-friendly APIs that can detect facial characteristics like emotion, age, and gender, as well as facial detection and verification capabilities.
All IDrive customers will have access to unlimited metadata storage and image analyzing. However, the platform’s different plans do place limits on the number of transactions that customers will be able to perform. At the lower tier, developers will only be granted 75 transactions per minute, but large enterprises will be able to purchase a plan that removes those caps.
Of course, IDrive Face is only one of several facial recognition solutions currently available on the market. Kairos recently renewed its partnership with the RapidAPI marketplace, while SkyBiometry made improvements to its own API and Ipsidy released a browser-based portal that does not require any backend coding.
The latest offering from IDrive indicates that there is a growing demand for easy-to-use identity verification services, and for facial recognition solutions in particular, that help companies comply with stricter KYC and privacy regulations.

Like all biometrics solutions, face recognition technology measures and matches the unique characteristics for the purposes of identification or authentication. Often leveraging a digital or connected camera, facial recognition software can detect faces in images, quantify their features, and then match them against stored templates in a database.
Face scanning biometric tech is incredibly versatile and this is reflected in its wide range of potential applications. Learn more on FindBiometrics’ Facial Recognition page.
