CyberLink Introduces New Facial Recognition APIs

CyberLink is trying to make it easier for organizations to integrate its facial recognition technology into their own operations. To that end, CyberLInk has launched a new FaceMe Platform that provides clients with a collection of facial recognition APIs that can be used for a number of different business use cases.

Clients that adopt the APIs can deploy them on their own servers, and manage them through a centralized dashboard in a standard web browser. The APIs themselves are based on the HTTP format, and can be installed, tested, and run with minimal coding requirements.

In terms of utility, the APIs support both 1:1 and 1:N facial recognition, in addition to template extraction. The FaceMe Platform also comes with video analytic and image quality analysis capabilities.

Administrators, meanwhile, can view match records and notifications through the central dashboard. Employees only need to register their faces once, and administrators can then use those templates to assign people to different working groups based on their status within the organization and their access privileges.

Finally, the FaceMe Platform offers technological efficiencies that will improve its overall performance. Most notably, the Platform comes with failover and load balancing systems that share processing responsibilities across multiple workstations to optimize power consumption and system uptime. If one machine goes down, FaceMe will reroute the things it was working on to another device, and the system itself is constantly analyzing the computing power of each workstation to make sure each one is being used properly. As a result, organizations can add new machines to their network relatively quickly, and the FaceMe Platform can scale to provide coverage for an organization of any size.

The news comes only days after CyberLink became an Associate Member of the FIDO Alliance. The company’s FaceMe engine has completed the second level of the iBeta liveness detection test, and has previously been integrated with a number of VMS solutions.
