IDmission will be providing biometric onboarding services for the Baaz social media platform in the Middle East. According to the company, Baaz was designed to meet the unique cultural expectations of the Arab world, though it is targeting a global audience and is compliant with the latest GDPR and CCPA data privacy regulations.
The partnership with IDmission will allow Baaz to fulfill those security promises. The company’s solution uses biometrics to verify people’s identities, and supplements that with passive liveness detection to make sure that a real user is present during the onboarding process. IDmission’s passive liveness solution has received ISO/IEC 30107-3 Level 2 certification.
Baaz is hoping that its use of biometric onboarding will eliminate bots, reduce the spread of misinformation, and discourage trolling and other behaviors that are often associated with unverified accounts. IDmission’s technology will enable an instant verification process that weeds out bots without creating too much friction for new users.
“Social media platforms have been an integral part of our daily lives. We believe it’s our responsibility to create a fun yet safe and healthy environment for our Arab world,” said Baaz CEO Hamda Khochtali. “Baaz will be the very first social media platform that provides users with an identity verification process, and thanks to our partnership with IDmission, we’ll be able to offer users an ideal identity verification system and Arabic text extraction for our users.”
“Establishing user identity while enrolling into a social media site has far-reaching consequences, both for more meaningful social discourse and for enabling monetary transactions in the future,” added IDmission CEO Ashim Banerjee.
IDmission recently unveiled a new development tool to make it easier for customers to integrate the company’s Identity SDK into existing applications. The company has also released a biometric access control and identity management system designed for large facilities.
