IDmission Helps Developers Integrate Biometric Authentication with New Dev Tool

IDmission is trying to make it easier for companies to build hybrid web applications that will run well on mobile devices. To that end, IDmission has released a new AppIT wrapper development tool that will allow programmers to use the language of their choice when integrating IDmission’s Identity SDK into their own existing applications.

AppIT is designed to give developers an alternative to iOS and Android’s more platform-specific APIs. The wrapper offers support for CSS3, HTML5, and JavaScript, and will be especially appealing to fans of the latter two platforms, since AppIT will bring HTML and JavaScript features to mobile devices.

The hybrid applications built with AppIT will not rely on the platform’s UI framework for layout rendering, and will instead leverage web views for the task. They will also be packaged as containers, which gives them access to device APIs and facilitates distribution. As a result, they are neither true mobile nor true web applications.

All of the features offered with IDmission’s Identity SDK come with the AppIT wrapper built-in. The platform allows developers to take advantage of key device components, including cameras and other biometric scanners. As a result, AppIT can support selfie authentication, signature capture, and other forms of identification, all of which is backed with passive liveness detection.

“We are excited to offer our customers this feature at no charge to enhance their development efforts,” said IDmission Chief Revenue Officer Miles Busby. “AppIT allows our customers to quickly move from their current web-based applications to an omnichannel environment including Android and iOS devices.”

IDmission’s liveness detection solution recently received Level 2 certification from iBeta after completing the organization’s Presentation Attack Detection test. The company has repeatedly emphasized the importance of passive liveness detection, arguing that it is a necessary security measure for organizations that are looking to prevent increasingly sophisticated fraud attacks.

AppIT arrives a few months after the release of a biometric access control system designed for large venues.
