IDEMIA’s Contactless Biometric Scanner Secures São Paulo Condos

One of IDEMIA‘s flagship biometric products, the MorphoWave Compact, is now being used to secure multiple condominiums in Brazil. The company says its devices are being used for residential access control in Barueri, a municipality in the state of São Paulo.

IDEMIA first announced the MorphoWave Compact at the 2018 ISC West. A smaller version of its award-winning MorphoWave Tower, the device is capable of capturing four fingerprints at a time, without the need for physical contact: end users can therefore authenticate with a simple wave of the hand.

At the Bareuri condominiums, this technology means that residents can easily can access to their buildings without the need to carry a key card or fob. And with no need for physical contact, it’s a particularly apropos access control solution at a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has prompted social distancing and new concerns about hygiene.

IDEMIA says the Barueri deployments took roughly 20 days to complete. They arrive after a pilot deployment last month that saw the MorphoWave Compact integrated into a soccer stadium in Japan.
