ID4Africa has disclosed the theme for its upcoming Marathon of Innovations conference. The virtual event is scheduled to run from December 8-10, and will bring together thousands of people from all over the world to tackle the industry’s most pressing identity challenges.
In 2020, that places the focus squarely on the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why the theme for the event will be Identity Management Tools for a World in Crisis. The organizers are hoping to highlight innovations that make it easier to respond to disruptive events like the pandemic, which will in turn mitigate the impact of those incidents on global populations moving forward.
The broader goal is to demonstrate how digital identity technologies can help countries boost their economies and better meet the evolving needs of their citizens in a digital environment. To that end, the Marathon will give technology providers an opportunity to showcase their latest innovations, and give governments an opportunity to learn more about digital identity technology and find solutions that are well-suited to their particular demands.
The Marathon of Innovations is intended to complement ID4Africa’s ongoing LiveCast episodes, which recently put the spotlight on Tanzania’s identity ecosystem and on emergency response more generally. ID4Africa was one of the many events that was disrupted by COVID-19, with the organizers making the decision to postpone shortly after the initial outbreak.
