Money20/20 has officially cancelled its 2020 conferences in Europe and the United States. Like other event organizers, Money20/20 cited the ongoing threat of COVID-19 as the primary reason for the decision.
The organization had initially postponed Money20/20 Europe to September in the hopes that it would be safe to hold the conference at that time. Unfortunately, COVID-19 has continued to spread in the months since. Many international travel restrictions are still in place, so any international events will be poorly attended and be in a logistically precarious position.
To make up for it, Money20/20 has scheduled a virtual event for October 26-28. The virtual conference will feature programming that was originally slated for the live events, and give attendees the opportunity to network with one another through the Money20/20 platform.
Money20/20 is also moving forward with plans for 2021, which marks the organization’s 10th anniversary. Next year’s Money20/20 Europe will run from June 8-10 in Amsterdam, while Money20/20 USA will run from October 24-27 in Las Vegas.
Of course, Money20/20 is not the only major event casualty of COVID-19. The GSMA was forced to cancel its Barcelona, Shanghai, and Los Angeles events, and has replaced them with a virtual GSMA Thrive series. Meanwhile, Reed Exhibitions followed a similar trajectory with ISC West, eventually going virtual after first postponing the original event until the fall.
