Welcome to ID Tech’s digest of identity industry news. Here’s what you need to know about the world of digital identity and biometrics today:
Vendor Roundup: Cloud PKI, Airport Biometrics, Real-Time License Checks, and New Fraud Analytics
HID has received TX-RAMP certification for its PKIaaS offering, allowing Texas agencies to adopt cloud-based certificate lifecycle management without conducting individual security assessments. Miami International Airport has deployed CBP’s Enhanced Passenger Processing program using SITA’s Smart Path facial biometrics, enabling faster screening of returning U.S. citizens through mobile face pods. iDenfy has added real-time U.S. driver’s license verification by connecting directly to AAMVA, giving companies automated checks against DMV records during onboarding. BioCatch has launched Connect 2.0, combining behavioral telemetry, device intelligence, and graph-based fraud analysis to help financial institutions detect coordinated fraud activity and high-risk sessions.
Dormakaba Takes Minority Stake in RealSense for AI-Powered Access Control
Dormakaba has acquired a minority stake in RealSense to develop AI-powered access control that uses computer vision for identity recognition and anomaly detection. The partnership will integrate RealSense’s models into dormakaba’s product portfolio, targeting sectors such as commercial real estate, critical infrastructure, and data centers. The companies emphasize frictionless entry experiences with biometric and camera-based authentication while maintaining strict privacy controls. Early efforts will focus on high-security deployments where physical and logical access systems are increasingly converging.
AuthID Teams with NVIDIA to Secure Human and AI “Agent” Identities
authID has joined NVIDIA’s Connect Program to integrate GPU-accelerated biometric matching and policy engines into systems that manage both human identities and autonomous AI agents. The collaboration is intended to bind sensitive actions performed by AI models to verified identities, creating auditable controls over agentic AI. authID will use NVIDIA’s frameworks to scale its face and voice authentication services and to support continuous verification of high-privilege sessions. The partnership reflects growing enterprise demand for identity governance layers capable of monitoring how AI systems interact with data and critical workflows.
India Launches Biometric E-Passports and Upgrades Passport Service Infrastructure
India has begun issuing ICAO-compliant biometric e-passports with RFID chips storing encrypted personal and biometric data, as part of the nationwide upgrade to Passport Seva Programme V2.0. The rollout spans domestic and overseas passport centers, introducing AI-powered assistance, DigiLocker integration, and automated verification tools. All newly issued passports will transition to the e-passport format, with a full migration planned by 2035. The modernization aims to improve processing times, strengthen security, and support faster e-gate passage for international travelers.
Precise Biometrics and SecuGen Target National ID Spoofing
Precise Biometrics and SecuGen have launched a combined solution that integrates Precise’s BioLive liveness detection with SecuGen’s FBI-certified fingerprint scanners to strengthen national ID systems against spoofing. The approach adds real-time anti-spoof analysis to sensors already deployed in large-scale government programs, enabling upgrades without replacing hardware. Precise’s liveness technology has met stringent requirements in government environments, including approval for India’s Aadhaar program. The partnership targets programs facing increasingly sophisticated fingerprint fraud and offers a path to improve security within existing biometric architectures.
TSA Proposes an $18 Fee for Alternative Identity Verification at U.S. Airports
TSA has proposed an $18 fee for its Modernized Alternative Identity Verification service, used when passengers arrive without acceptable physical ID. The fee is intended to recover the cost of remote identity proofing, which draws on government and commercial data sources. The proposal arrives as TSA continues to expand biometric systems across airports and prepares for broader enforcement of identity requirements. Critics have raised concerns about the fee’s impact on infrequent travelers and the transparency of the data used in verification.
UN Pension Fund and UNDP Deploy Biometric Proof-of-Life Kiosks in 18 Countries
The UN Joint Staff Pension Fund and UNDP have deployed biometric Digital Certificate of Entitlement kiosks across 18 country offices to modernize proof-of-life checks for retirees. The system replaces manual paper-based processes with biometric and blockchain-backed verification, reducing delays and benefit suspensions. Retirees can now enroll and verify through kiosks or tablets with local support staff. The deployment reflects a global shift toward digital verification for social benefit programs aimed at reducing fraud and improving continuity of payments.
N-Able N-Central Vuln Chain Exposes Credentials and Keystores
Researchers at Horizon3.ai have identified an attack chain in N-able’s N-central platform that allowed unauthenticated attackers to bypass legacy authentication and exploit XXE vulnerabilities in the SOAP API. By accessing backup files, attackers could extract encrypted databases, keystores, and credentials tied to customer environments. N-able released patches in version 2025.4.0.9 to restrict access to vulnerable endpoints and harden XML parsing. Thousands of internet-exposed appliances remain unpatched, prompting advisories from national cyber agencies urging immediate upgrades and log reviews.
Germany Signs EUDI Wallet MOU with Bitkom
Germany’s digital ministry and Bitkom have signed a memorandum of understanding with more than 75 organizations to prepare for wide adoption of the European Digital Identity Wallet. The agreement covers banks, transport providers, telecom firms, and technology vendors that commit to enabling the wallet across real-world identification and age-verification scenarios. The initiative supports Germany’s broader EUDI rollout under eIDAS 2, which aims to provide interoperable digital identity credentials across the EU. The MOU was finalized during a summit on European digital sovereignty in Berlin.
