Keyless Achieves eIDAS Certification, Unlocking Role in EU Digital Identity Wallet Ecosystem

Keyless has received eIDAS certification for its Identity Proofing Services, becoming one of the first biometric authentication providers recognized as an Identity Proofing Service Provider (IPSP) under the EU’s digital identity framework. Certified by Italy’s accreditation body through CSQA, Keyless meets ETSI TS 119 461 and EN 319 401 standards, allowing integration with EUDI Wallets and other EU services without additional audits. Its privacy-preserving biometric solution avoids storing raw biometric data, aligning with EU data minimization principles. The certification supports the EU’s 2026 digital identity rollout and follows recent product launches and funding aimed at expanding Keyless’s role in the digital identity ecosystem.

Liquidity.io Launches Biometric Blockchain Platform with Telos Partnership

Liquidity.io and Telos Corporation have launched LQDTY, a new Layer 1 blockchain integrating biometric authentication to simplify access and enhance security. Built to address the blockchain trilemma of scalability, security, and decentralization, LQDTY incorporates Telos’s biometric credentials from its 2021 acquisition of Diamond Fortress Technologies. Targeting DeFi and tokenized asset applications, the platform promises high-speed, cost-efficient transactions. However, it must address regulatory and privacy concerns tied to biometric data use, especially as scrutiny over biometric systems continues to grow.

Spain Launches Digital National ID Cards on Smartphones via New App

Spain has launched a mobile version of its National Identity Document (DNI) via the new “MiDNI” app, allowing Spanish nationals to carry official ID on smartphones for domestic use. The digital ID, approved by the Council of Ministers, is part of Spain’s public service digitization strategy and can be used for activities like banking and event access. Initially, acceptance by institutions is optional, and the app excludes foreign residents with NIEs, raising concerns about digital inclusion. Strong privacy safeguards have been built into the system amid growing scrutiny of digital ID programs.

Law Council Backs Digital ID to Replace Business Data Storage Rules in Australia

The Law Council of Australia is urging the government to replace mandatory business data retention rules for identity verification with the national digital identity system, citing reduced compliance burdens and improved cybersecurity. Prompted by incidents like the Optus breach, the proposal would shift identity verification responsibilities from businesses to a government-run platform such as myID, enhanced with biometric authentication. Current AML/CTF laws require businesses to store customer ID data for seven years, creating risks and costs. The Council also supports exploring privacy-preserving approaches like self-sovereign identity, though legislative and trust challenges remain.

Humanity Protocol Teams with Kaito to Launch Web3 Identity Verification System

Humanity Protocol has partnered with Kaito to launch “Yapper Credentials,” a decentralized identity system for verifying genuine Web3 contributors. Users linking their X accounts to Humanity Protocol’s testnet receive a base-level credential, with higher tiers—Emerging CT and Inner CT—recognizing rising and influential crypto voices. Kaito acts as an official Identity Validator, integrating social proof into on-chain reputations. The portable credentials support interoperability across decentralized platforms and may unlock airdrop eligibility. The launch follows Humanity Protocol’s $20 million funding round and reflects the crypto sector’s growing push for secure, privacy-preserving identity systems.
