ID R&D has added an innovative new capability to its AI-driven biometric solutions portfolio: Acoustic Event Detection.
It’s pretty much what it sounds like. The technology is designed to leverage any connected device’s built-in microphone in order to listen for certain kinds of audio, such as a crying baby, breaking glass, gunshots, and so on. It can be programmed to listen for any particular kind of audio event, with its AI algorithms able to run on a server or locally on a device.
“Integrating our core expertise in artificial intelligence and voice biometrics into a new acoustic monitoring solution is a natural extension for us,” explained ID R&D Chief Scientist Konstantin Simonchik in a statement announcing the new functionality. “We are essentially offering a virtual human monitor that is 100% attentive, 24/7,” he added later.
The announcement underscores ID R&D’s rapid evolution as an AI and biometrics specialist. The company joined the Microsoft IoT & AI Insider Labs accelerator program in November, appointed a new Chief Product Officer in December, and announced a new Silicon Valley office in January. It’s firing on all cylinders, with the new Acoustic Event Detection capability poised to add further fuel.
