HID Global has announced that Björn Lidefelt is taking over as the company’s new President and CEO. Lidefelt is a new addition to the team at HID Global, but he arrives after a stint as the Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at ASSA ABLOY, which is HID Global’s parent company.
“Björn has had a very successful journey with our organization, and will bring a wealth of experience and perspective from various roles and markets to HID,” said ASSA ABLOY President and CEO Nico Delvaux.
“I look forward to leading a dedicated and talented workforce to create trusted physical and digital places,” added Lidefelt.
Lidefelt’s experience goes well beyond his time at ASSA ABLOY. Most notably, Lidefelt spent nine years in the APAC region, and is quite familiar with the markets in China and Asia. His areas of expertise include branding, strategy, and commercial development. He will be following in the footsteps of Stefan Widing, who is stepping down after four years as CEO.
The news comes shortly after HID Global published a white paper that argued that biometric authentication is superior to knowledge-based methods of identity verification. Temenos recently integrated HID’s behavioral biometric technology, while BigWise deployed HID’s DigitalPersona fingerprint solution in its Stellar Point-of-Sale terminals.
