” HID Global will be showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of identity solutions, which can help raise inclusion for the 500 million people currently without any form of official identification in sub-Saharan Africa.”
HID Global is heading to ID4Africa in its effort to reduce the high number of undocumented individuals on the continent. The goal is to provide African governments with the tools needed to issue official IDs like driver’s licenses and passports, which in turn will allow citizens to prove their identities and gain access to public services.
To that end, HID Global will be showcasing its comprehensive portfolio of identity solutions, which can help raise inclusion for the 500 million people currently without any form of official identification in sub-Saharan Africa.
“HID Global addresses each step of the citizen identity journey,” said HID Global VP & Managing Director Jessica Westerouen van Meeteren. “Our initiative serves citizens living in remote, unconnected areas who are at the greatest risk of marginalization and exclusion, and aligns well with ID4Africa’s ‘ID-4-All’ movement aimed at facilitating economic development, humanitarian aid, government services, and other critical programs.”
The initiative is in keeping with HID Global’s recent efforts to expand its business in the African region. The company previously supplied Tanzania with electronic passports. It has since expanded the partnership to offer visas and residency permits based on the success of that initial ePassport program, and bolstered its international document portfolio with the acquisition of De La Rue’s passport business.
ID4Africa runs from June 18-20 in Johannesburg, South Africa.
