“The Signo Biometric Reader 25B features HID’s patented multispectral imaging technology, allowing it capture fingerprint images detailing both the surface and sub-surface of the end user’s skin.”
HID Global has brought biometrics to its Signo line of access control readers.
The lineup was first launched in early 2020, offering dynamic access control solutions designed to offer a high degree of interoperability with other physical and mobile credentialing systems. Now, HID has announced the HID Signo Biometric Reader 25B, a fingerprint-scanning solution for access control.
The Signo Biometric Reader 25B features HID’s patented multispectral imaging technology, allowing it capture fingerprint images detailing both the surface and sub-surface of the end user’s skin. That enables the reader to scan fingers effectively even when they’re wet or dirty.
HID’s biometric technology also features liveness detection capabilities, allowing it to detect presentation attacks in which genuine biometric credentials are mimicked, or in which latent prints are used in an attempt to fool the authentication system.
In addition to its biometric functionality, the HID Signo Biometric Reader 25B also supports contactless physical credential technologies including MIFARE, Seos, iCLASS, and iCLASS SE, as well as HID Mobile Access digital credentials. NFC and Bluetooth communications are supported by the device.
The new solution offers a further illustration of HID Global’s growing interest in biometric technology, after the company’s recent contribution to a funding round for its partner Paravision; HID Global plans to integrate Paravision’s facial recognition technology into its access control portfolio in the future.
