Fingerprint Cards has added two new colors to its lineup of fingerprint sensors aimed at access control applications, further signalling its intent to aggressively target this market area.
Whereas FPC’s sensors previously were only available in black, they can now be ordered in silver and white versions – a response to market demand, the company said in announcing the new colors.
“As adoption of biometrics in access control grows, consumers and businesses alike are increasingly looking for solutions where slick design matches biometric smartness,” explained Fingerprint Cards Payments SVP Michel Roig. “The rise of smart home devices has boosted this demand, with consumers keen for biometric-enabled products to complement the design of their homes.”
Whereas Fingerprint Cards made a name for itself over the past several years in the mobile biometrics market, where it has been a leading supplier of fingerprint sensors for smartphone integrations, the company has recently seen its sensors integrated into smart door locks from Kadaas and Fueb Labs.
The company also found a new customer last month in Sentry Enterprises, a US-based access control specialist. Sentry had placed a volume order for Fingerprints’ T-Shape sensor module and its FPC-BEP software.
Toward the end of September, Fingerprint Cards sketched out a long-term strategic plan to dramatically expand its business activities in new market areas, with access control being a key one.
