Hawaii Extends CLEAR Health Pass Screening to All Incoming Flights from Mainland US

CLEAR and the State of Hawaii are expanding the scope of their Hawaii Safe Travels COVID-19 screening program. The company first partnered with the State back in February to give healthy travelers the ability to skip the 10-day quarantine currently required for those visiting the islands. However, the service was initially only offered to passengers flying from Los Angeles to Honolulu, and only to those flying with United or Delta airlines.

The latest announcement will extend the program to every flight that originates from a mainland US airport, to any airport in Hawaii. That means that all travelers will have an opportunity to forego the quarantine, regardless of their chosen airline, their point of departure, or their final destination.

The Hawaii Safe Travels program takes advantage of the CLEAR Health Pass application, a free app that allows users to link their identity to their COVID-19 test results and their vaccination record. Those that upload their medical information can use the app to generate a QR code, and then present that QR code at the boarding gate to prove that they are free of COVID-19.

The expanded program will go into effect on July 9, and will be available to anyone over the age of 18. Travelers can apply for a quarantine exception through the Hawaii Safe Travels website, and can complete the entire process with a mobile device.

“Safe travel is important for our residents and visitors, and CLEAR offers travelers a convenient and secure option for providing vaccination and pre-travel testing verification for those returning home or coming to Hawaii for work or vacation,” said Hawaii Governor David Ige.

The Health Pass app is compatible with hundreds of pharmacies and vaccine providers (up to and including Walmart), in addition to COVID-19 tests from LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics. The technology has also been used to screen spectators at sporting events.
