FPC’s Biometric Tech Adds Security to Inotherm Smart Doors

Another smart door solution is using biometric authentication technology provided by Fingerprint Cards.

The access solution in this case comes from Inotherm, a Slovenia-based manufacturer of aluminum smart doors. The company claims to be Europe’s largest manufacturer of entrance doors, and is now offering a biometric solution dubbed “Inosmart”.

The Inosmart solution comprises a smart keypad that can support up to 100 stored fingerprints, and managed via a smartphone app. It’s aimed at the smart home market, offering an elegant security solution for tech-forward consumers.

In announcing the integration of its technology, Fingerprint Cards did not specify which of its fingerprint sensor models is being used in the solution. For its part, Inotherm says that Inosmart employs a “state-of-the-art high-resolution fingerprint sensor” that offers “superior security, reliability and faster recognition.”

Smart door locks appear to be an application area that is of growing interest to Fingerprint Cards. The company has previously announced door lock integrations of its fingerprint sensors in collaboration with Kaadas and Fueb Labs earlier this year, and has seen its tech incorporated into a padlock from Aran Tecnovation. Fingerprint Cards also extolled the benefits of biometric smart locks in a blog post in September.

Meanwhile, the past month has also brought news of business developments in the area of biometric payment cards – another important new frontier for FPC as it seeks to expand its operations beyond the mobile biometrics sector in which it made its name.
