Forrester has identified IBM Security as a leader in the realm of Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). The distinction comes via The Forrester Wave: CIAM report for the fourth quarter of 2020.
The Forrester Wave report evaluated 13 leading CIAM providers based on 32 criteria. IBM was recognized for its support of a range of different authentication protocols, including biometrics and the FIDO2 authentication standard. Forrester also credited IBM for developing solutions that can be easily integrated with third party systems, and for its robust dashboard and reporting capabilities.
IBM Security is the developer of the Verify solution, which assesses risk and provides secure identity verification for internal and customer-facing applications. In its report, Forrester examined market presence and future strategy in addition to a company’s current product.
“As companies look to protect sensitive data across hybrid cloud operations, they must verify the identity of every user interaction taking place – from the employees and devices accessing their internal systems, to the customers using their digital services,” said IBM Security Offering Management VP Aarti Borkar.
IBM recently made headlines when it decided to stop selling facial recognition software after the police killing of George Floyd. The company has since asked the US Commerce Department to follow suit and restrict the sale of facial recognition to repressive government regimes.
