A key executive from biometric traveler screening specialist CLEAR is bringing his expertise to authID.ai. Joe Trelin has been appointed as the latter’s fifth independent member of its Board of Directors, bringing the total number of authID.ai Directors to eight.
From January of 2016 to July of 2019, Trelin served as CLEAR’s Chief Platform Officer, according to Crunchbase. That period saw a considerable expansion of the reach of CLEAR’s expedited security screening system across American airports, and the beginnings of CLEAR’s application of its biometric technology to payments and venue access.
In a statement announcing his new board appointment, authID.ai asserted that “Trelin designed, launched, and monetized the CLEAR identity platform across various market sectors including payments, healthcare, entertainment, automotive, and enterprise access management,” adding that he has previously served in senior product development and management roles at NBC Universal, Amazon and AWS, and S&P.
Commenting on the appointment, authID.ai CEO Tom Thimot noted that Tremlin is joining the board “amid a pivotal time of significant growth potential for the company.” There is an ongoing trend of intensifying interest in the kind of selfie-based identity verification in which authID specializes, and the company recently attracted a considerable amount of financing that it anticipated would help to put authID on track for positive cash flow in 2024.
Tremlin “joins on the heels of our raise of more than $22 million in funding, which will provide the resources for us to start to build a safer digital landscape for all,” continued Thimot. “We look forward to leveraging Joe’s experience in identity service innovation, technology product management, and platform development to benefit and inform authID’s growth plans and innovation pipeline.”
Thimot himself joined the company last June as part of a larger corporate overhaul in which the company rebranded from its previous moniker, Ipsidy. The company went on to make its Nasdaq debut last August.
