Edge cloud platform provider Fastly and agentic payments infrastructure company Skyfire have partnered to build a system for verifying AI agent identities and enabling trusted autonomous commerce at the network edge.
The integration embeds Skyfire’s identity and payment-backed credentials into Fastly’s programmable edge cloud, allowing enterprises to identify, verify, and transact with AI agents in real time at global scale. The system is designed to help businesses distinguish trusted, revenue-generating agents from malicious automation without requiring changes to existing infrastructure.
As AI agents increasingly browse, negotiate, and complete transactions autonomously, the partnership addresses a growing challenge in the emerging “know your agent” identity space: confirming that an AI agent is authorized, solvent, and acting on behalf of a verified principal before allowing it to complete a transaction or access a service.
Skyfire provides the open protocol and payment infrastructure designed specifically for AI agents, verifying both the identity and ability to pay for non-human requests. Fastly’s edge platform handles the enforcement layer, making verification and authorization decisions in real time at the point of request rather than routing traffic back to centralized systems. The solution complements Fastly’s existing AI Bot Management and Application Security offerings.
The partnership sits within a rapidly expanding ecosystem of companies working to establish identity standards for autonomous AI agents. Prove recently launched Verified Agent to bind verified identity, intent, and payment credentials within a single chain of custody for autonomous digital agents. World introduced Agent Kit to tie Orb-verified iris identities to AI agents using zero-knowledge proofs, while the FIDO Alliance has formalized an Agentic Authentication Technical Working Group chaired by members from CVS Health, Google, and OpenAI, alongside a Payments Technical Working Group chaired by Mastercard and Visa.
Skyfire previously partnered with F5 in March to bring verified AI agent identity into F5’s bot defense platform, extending the same approach to a different segment of application delivery infrastructure.
