World ID Launches Agent Kit to Link Iris-Verified Identity to AI Agents

World has released a beta version of Agent Kit, a developer tool that ties Orb-verified iris identities to AI agents, giving websites and services a cryptographic way to confirm that a real human is accountable for an agent’s actions.

The system uses zero-knowledge proofs so that an agent’s human principal can be verified without exposing personal data. When an AI agent acts on a user’s behalf, the counterparty sees proof of a unique, verified human identity rather than any biometric or identifying detail. World reports approximately 18,000 new identity confirmations in its most recent week of operations.

Agent Kit integrates with Coinbase’s x402 payment protocol, extending the identity layer to financial transactions. The combination positions World ID as infrastructure for a coming wave of agentic AI use cases where distinguishing human-initiated actions from fully automated bot activity carries real commercial and legal weight.

The challenge of bot attribution has grown as AI agents proliferate across e-commerce, finance, and digital services. Platforms increasingly face situations where they cannot reliably determine whether a transaction was initiated by a human or an autonomous system, creating liability, fraud, and compliance gaps that World ID is positioning itself to fill.

World’s Orb-based enrollment model requires in-person iris scanning to generate a World ID, a proof-of-personhood credential that has been expanded to include deepfake detection capabilities as the company moved away from the Worldcoin branding. The same network has faced regulatory friction in multiple jurisdictions: Thai regulators ordered the company to halt iris scan operations and delete biometric records from more than a million people, and the company temporarily paused German operations amid regulatory review.

The Agent Kit launch represents a new product category for World: rather than expanding Orb enrollment geography, the company is building application-layer infrastructure that monetizes existing verified identities by making them useful to AI developers. Sam Altman, who co-founded the project, has framed the human verification problem as one of the defining technical challenges of the agentic AI era.

World previously extended its iris-based identity network to Panama and launched the World Chain blockchain as a dedicated infrastructure layer for its identity ecosystem.
