has achieved Level 4 “Spoof/Bypass” certification from Praetorian Security, confirming its ability to resist advanced spoofing and bypass attempts. Announced on September 3, 2025, the independent assessment found zero critical, high, medium, or low-level security issues and recorded a 0 percent Attack Presentation Classification Error Rate (APCER). Testing covered face data tampering, SDK reverse engineering, and 3D FaceScan payload manipulation.
Rigorous testing and prior security benchmarks
The certification process included a 200-hour simulated attack campaign and a three-week SDK reverse-engineering analysis, designed to evaluate the system’s resilience under real-world threat scenarios. Praetorian’s attestation letter, available on FaceTec’s website, confirms the absence of exploitable vulnerabilities. This latest milestone builds on previous success with FaceTec’s UR Codes protocol, which also passed a separate Praetorian security review with no security risks identified.
UR Codes are secure, machine-readable biometric barcodes that merge verified identity data with 3D facial biometrics. They deliver security comparable to e-passports without the need for NFC chips, making them suitable for a wider range of devices and use cases. FaceTec offers its UR Code Scanner/Matcher SDK at no cost to nonprofits, law enforcement agencies, and government bodies.
Privacy-preserving verification and global reach
FaceTec’s Scan+Match applications can scan, validate, and match biometric data from UR Codes locally on a user’s device, ensuring that sensitive information never leaves the device. This local processing approach supports in-person and remote identity verification scenarios while aligning with privacy requirements in regulated markets.
To encourage continuous testing and transparency, the company maintains the industry’s only global spoof bounty program covering Levels 1 through 5, with up to $600,000 in rewards. The Level 4 certification further validates this program’s effectiveness and FaceTec’s security-by-design approach.
