SITA Agrees to Acquire Collins Aerospace’s Airport Solutions Business

SITA has agreed to acquire Collins Aerospace Airport Solutions, the airport technology business of Collins Aerospace whose products include self-service check-in, bag drop and biometric passenger processing systems.

The air transport IT provider said the unit supplies passenger processing, baggage and airport operations technology, from check-in and self-service touchpoints to bag drop and the systems that keep airport operations running. SITA expects the deal to close during the first half of 2027, subject to customary conditions including regulatory approvals. Financial terms were not disclosed. Collins Aerospace is owned by RTX. In June, SITA bought Big Blue Analytics, which makes disruption management software for airline operations.

Collins’ airport portfolio includes biometric passenger processing. Its SelfServ kiosks integrate the company’s SelfPass biometric system, which lets passengers enroll their face at the kiosk and then pass later checkpoints such as security and boarding without showing documents again.

At Manila’s Ninoy Aquino International Airport, operator New NAIA Infra Corp. deployed 24 Collins check-in kiosks with facial recognition in 2025 as the first stage of a planned face-based passenger journey.

SITA’s own offerings span passenger processing, border management and what it calls trusted identity, alongside baggage, airport operations and communications services. Earlier this month, SITA joined airport, airline and biometrics companies in a coalition seeking European Union rules for voluntary biometric journeys.

“Air transport is growing and so are expectations. Our industry increasingly needs technology, innovation and people working together to connect each part of the journey, so disruptions are prevented, or fixed fast when they happen,” said David Lavorel, chief executive of SITA. “This acquisition extends SITA’s offerings and capabilities, reinforcing our commitment and role as the trusted technology partner our customers rely on.”

Nathalie Altwegg, SITA’s senior vice president for airports, said the acquisition would strengthen the company’s ability to support airport customers. “Ask an airport what it wants from a technology provider, and the answer is a trusted partner,” she said. “That means understanding its environment, working closely with its teams, and being there when support is needed.”

SITA said that combining the two businesses would strengthen support for all customers and contribute to improved passenger, baggage and wider airport operations.
