Evident ID has released a new Software-as-a-Service platform that was designed to help businesses mitigate risk as they start to reopen during the COVID-19 pandemic. The mobile application has been dubbed Evident Health Status, and it will essentially give employees a secure way to share their personal health information with their employers.
Evident Health Status utilizes identity verification and document recognition technology from Acuant, and boasts automated privacy protections thanks to a collaboration with TrustArc. The partnership will ensure that the platform is compliant with the relevant HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA regulations.
According to Evident, the app will not access, store, or share anyone’s medical information without that person’s consent. It will also be transparent about how the data in the system is being stored and used. Businesses, meanwhile, can use the information to monitor potential exposure to COVID-19, and set policies and take action to protect customers and employees.
“Businesses around the world are navigating the difficult task of allowing employees to return to the workplace safely amid COVID-19,” explained Evident CEO David Thomas. “Evident Health Status simplifies the process by orchestrating consent and data sharing between three critical stakeholders – your business, health providers and employees – while ensuring employee privacy is protected.”
The system offers end-to-end encryption and strong cryptography, and will give businesses up-to-date health information about their staff. Evident formed a third-party advisory council to guide the development of the app, and recommends that businesses deploy the Evident Health Status alongside other public health measures like thermal scanning at physical venues.
“Companies must decide not only what actions are effective at reducing COVID-19 exposure, but also how they can help employees feel safer,” said Coretha Rushing, a member of the advisory council and a former SHRM Board Chair Emeritus. “As discussions continue regarding the need to revise some privacy regulations, all healthcare information including body temperature still must be protected and held confidential.”
Evident ID previously launched a biometric account recovery solution in December. The company has also received $20 million in Series B funding.
