Entrust Datacard has introduced two new features that were designed to make its comprehensive authentication management platform more convenient and more secure. The first is a passwordless Single Sign-On (SSO) utility intended to be used internally, while the second is a customer-facing Identity Proofing feature built to facilitate mobile onboarding.
To that end, Passwordless SSO Authentication essentially lets employees use a smartphone as a “virtual smart card” to log into company workstations. Doing so negates the need to remember a password and lets organizations take advantage of the biometric authentication features that are now becoming standard on modern phones.
The SSO logins are based on proximity, but the system can be used to cover cloud and on-premises applications. That means that employees can use it to switch between different workstations or gain remote access to work materials, all without needing to register with each individual device, or without any additional hardware or system upgrades.
Identity Proofing, meanwhile, is a biometric onboarding solution with document and facial recognition capabilities. The platform compares a selfie of the customer to the photo on an official government ID, and then allows them to proceed with the rest of their application.
Customers can complete the process on a mobile phone, or at a kiosk at a physical location. Identity Proofing is compatible with the latest Know Your Customer and Anti-Money Laundering regulations.
Entrust Datacard first introduced facial recognition through a partnership with FacePhi in 2017. The company is a member of the Cloud Security Alliance and the FIDO Alliance.
