The Dubai Police Force is expanding its use of biometric authentication solutions from BIO-key, the company has announced.
Coming after an initial deployment last year, the expansion entails the police agency’s purchase of additional PIV-Pro FIPS 201 fingerprint readers, as well as additional subscription licenses for BIO-key’s ID Director for Windows software platform, and a general renewal of the police force’s software subscription.
Like other clients including the Singapore Police Force, the Dubai Police Force is using BIO-key’s technology internally, with officers and staff undergoing biometric authentication to access digital assets.
Commenting on the expansion, BIO-key CEO Mike DePasquale emphasized the Dubai Police Force’s reputation, and the further credibility that the client lends to his own firm’s solutions. “The Dubai Police Force, one of the world’s premier law enforcement agencies, is recognized for its use of innovative technologies and extremely high security standards,” he said, adding later, “The program’s expansion is further testament to the performance and value of our technology and service and should serve as a strong reference for other law enforcement customers.”
News of the development comes on the heels of BIO-key’s announcement that it had won a $30 million contract to provide biometric authentication solutions to a Nigerian telecom, marking a dramatic expansion into the African market for the biometrics specialist.
