Bird Home Automation has teamed up with ekey to add fingerprint recognition capabilities to its own DoorBird access control and video intercom system. To that end, the D2101FV EKEY door station has a cutout that makes it easy to install an ekey home FS UP I fingerprint reader.
Once that reader has been installed, DoorBird owners will be able to unlock the door of their house (or another venue) with only a fingerprint scan. The DoorBird system can also be unlocked with RFID key fobs and the DoorBird app. All three technologies can be deployed simultaneously.
In addition to the various access control functions, the DoorBird platform comes with a video camera equipped with a wide angle lens and night vision, as well as a motion sensor and a speaker with echo and noise suppression capabilities. The door station can be integrated into other building automation systems thanks to the platform’s open API.
The ekey home FS UP 1 module can be purchased and installed separately. The DoorBird, meanwhile, is one of several fingerprint access control solutions currently on the market. In January, U-Tec unveiled a new Ultraloq Lever with fingerprint recognition capabilities, while Fingerprint Cards has placed its BM-Lite fingerprint module in a smart door lock from Fueb Labs.
