Dock has announced a partnership with Daon, a biometrics and identity assurance technology company, to enhance identity verification and credential management solutions. The collaboration will integrate Dock’s Decentralized ID technology with Daon’s established digital identity platform, creating a unified, reusable credential that streamlines the identity verification process. This solution is expected to simplify secure account access across various systems while providing users with a seamless experience.
Daon, a company founded in Ireland in 2000, has a longstanding presence in the biometrics and digital identity sector. With headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia, and operations across multiple continents, Daon has secured over 2 billion identities globally. Its IdentityX platform, which employs biometric modalities such as facial recognition, voice recognition, and fingerprint scanning, is widely used by prominent financial institutions and businesses for authentication. The company has recently demonstrated its continued innovation through showcasing its strong authentication capabilities at major industry events.
Through this partnership, Dock’s technology will enable Daon to consolidate verified data from sources such as government-issued digital IDs and bank credentials into a single verifiable credential. These credentials, tied to users through biometrics with advanced liveness detection, will ensure they can only be used by the intended individuals. This integration builds on recent advances in passive liveness detection technology, which has become increasingly essential for high-security remote onboarding processes.
The partnership also includes exploring innovative use cases such as mobile driver’s licenses (mDL) and compliance with the European eIDAS framework, underscoring the potential for decentralized ID to facilitate secure digital interactions across the United States and Europe. This aligns with recent developments in digital identity frameworks, including upgrades to the EU’s digital wallet framework and evolving eIDAS regulations.
Both companies bring extensive experience and technical capabilities to the partnership. Daon’s history includes collaborations with major organizations like Visa and Mastercard, as well as its recent launch of TrustX, a cloud-based biometrics platform. The partnership builds on growing industry momentum in verifiable credentials, as evidenced by recent initiatives like DHS’s collaboration with SpruceID to enhance the privacy and security of digital credentials. Dock, which serves over 300 clients and processes more than 5 billion transactions annually, has demonstrated rapid growth in financial technology, particularly in Latin America.
