Digital Ally Finds New Access Control Partner for Biometric Thermal Screening Solution

Digital Ally is targeting the access control market through a new partnership with Integrated Openings Solutions (IOS). The deal specifically concerns Digital Ally’s ThermoVu thermal screening device, and its future pairings with locks, badge systems, and other access control setups.

In that regard, IOS will act as Digital Ally’s preferred partner when integrating ThermoVu with other devices, and when installing the solution for a customer. ThermoVu itself is a contactless thermal scanner that takes someone’s temperature at the wrist. When configured with a smart lock or some other mechanism, it will grant access to someone with a healthy temperature, or bar access to anyone running a fever. ThermoVu also offers facial recognition capabilities for organizations that need to verify people’s identities during the screening process.

ThermoVu is available in DTM-500, DTM-600, and DTM-700 models, all three of which are compatible with a range of access control systems. IOS, meanwhile, specializes in the creation of custom entrances for schools, government facilities, and commercial facilities. The company’s smart entrances are compliant with safety and security regulations, and are built to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Fever is one of the most common symptoms of COVID-19. With that in mind, Digital Ally is hoping that the ThermoVu can help spot people who may be infected and slow the spread of the disease.

The partnership with IOS should accelerate Digital Ally’s ThermoVu business. The company has already delivered scanners for several clients in and around Kansas, including the Major League Soccer Club Sporting Kansas City, which is using ThermoVu to take fan temperatures at its Children’s Mercy Park home stadium. The municipality of Linn County, Kansas has also installed the scanners at public facilities like schools and county offices.
