DERMALOG has been named as one of the most innovative businesses in Germany. The biometric specialist was ranked 14th in a list of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) put together by German WirtschaftsWoche magazine in collaboration with Munich Strategy.
This is the fifth consecutive time that DERMALOG has made the top 100 in the annual list, though it is the first time that the company cracked the top 20. DERMALOG beat out thousands of other companies on its way up the list, with Munich Strategy looking at roughly 4,000 German SMEs during the evaluation process. Those SMEs all had an annual turnover somewhere between €10 million and €1 billion.
According to Munich Strategy, rankings were based primarily on the strength of a company’s ideas, with innovation accounting for two-thirds of each score. The final third was based on a company’s actual performance.
DERMALOG itself is the largest biometrics manufacturer in Germany. The company was one of the first to advocate for the use of thermal screening technology as a safety measure during the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has since won a German Innovation Award for a Multi-Biometric Camera with iris and face recognition capabilities.
“We are very pleased with this excellent rating, which we have achieved thanks to our creative and dedicated employees,” said DERMALOG CEO Gunther Mull. “They are the ones who develop new solutions with great ingenuity and therefore make a decisive contribution to our company’s innovation strength.”
DERMALOG currently provides biometric technology for more than 250 government agencies in over 100 countries all over the world. Its Fever Detection Cameras were recently installed at the Scandinavian Park shopping mall near the border between Germany and Denmark, and were previously integrated into DERMALOG’s biometric terminals at the Thai border to take the temperatures of people trying to enter the country.
