Onfido took home one of the top prizes at the 2020 CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards. The company’s remote identity verification platform was named as the “AI-Based CyberSecurity Solution of the Year,” beating out more than 3,700 nominees from all over the world to claim the final prize.
The CyberSecurity Breakthrough Awards celebrate innovative accomplishments in the realm of information security, in categories that range from threat detection and risk management to fraud prevention and mobile security. Onfido is being recognized for mobile onboarding technology that uses face and document recognition to compare a selfie to the image on a person’s official photo ID.
“The UN estimates that $2 trillion is laundered each year and with COVID-19, fraudsters are not letting up, syphoning off millions of dollars in relief from those that need it most,” said Onfido Co-Founder and CEO Husayn Kassai. “We feel proud that our AI-based approach is being recognized as a key tool in the fight against fraud, especially at a time when companies are accelerating their digital transformation plans.”
Onfido now stands alongside previous CyberSecurity Breakthrough Award winners like Jumio and BehavioSec. The former was named as the Overall ID Management Solution of the Year in 2018, while the latter won the Multifactor Solution of the Year Award in 2019.
Kassai was recently selected as London’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year, while Onfido itself was listed on CB Insights’ third annual FinTech top 250.
