Wondershare is trying to make things simpler for video editors with the latest iteration of its DemoCreator platform. DemoCreator 5.4 comes with a slew of new video editing tools, including an automatic caption generator and an improved face detection system.
Of those, the auto caption generator may be the most immediately impactful because it will help make videos more accessible and make it easier to search for videos based on their text. The feature uses speech recognition to create captions for any video that has been uploaded to the platform. DemoCreator customers can then go in afterward to edit and customize those initial captions to make sure everything is accurate before sharing a final video.
The face detection tool, meanwhile, is capable of identification, though it seems to be designed primarily to speed up the editing process. The tool can literally recognize faces, which is to say that it can distinguish a face from a background and any other objects that add clutter to the screen. It can then separate the face in the video from that background, so editors can replace that background with something more desirable.
On that front, DemoCreator 5.4 comes with a collection of new backgrounds to place behind the talking heads. The release also introduces new video effects (such as stickers, borders, and caption effects), and allows users to convert a PowerPoint file into various video file formats.
“We are excited to unveil DemoCreator with several added utility tools and features that will help educators, freelancers, gamers, students, and other professionals in seamless idea sharing,” said DemoCreator Product Director Patrick Yu.
Of course, DemoCreator is not the only tool that can isolate faces in a video feed. RealNetworks and Amazon have booth released tools that can identify and sort the faces of celebrities. D-ID, on the other hand, uses face identification technology to ensure privacy with an algorithm that strips identifying features from photos and video footage.
