BIO-key has received another order from a client in the government defense sector. The company hasn’t disclosed the name of its “leading foreign defense ministry” client, but offered several details about the relationship in a statement announcing this latest development.
The client was referred to BIO-key by the Windows Core Security and Identity Team, marking another benefit to BIO-key’s now longstanding relationship with Microsoft, which has embraced its fingerprint readers for their compatibility with its Windows Hello biometric authentication system. An initial contract, first announced by BIO-key this past January, entailed the deployment of BIO-key’s WEB-key biometric software engine to enable biometric security for access to IT assets including those associated with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
Now, the defense ministry has ordered additional software licenses and fingerprint scanners from BIO-key.
Commenting on the development, BIO-key Strategy and Compliance SVP Jim Sullivan said that the client “is globally recognized for its cutting-edge cyber-security expertise and is renowned for their innovative use of advanced technologies.” So the BIO-key team is understandably “delighted that such a capable and prestigious technology team determined that BIO-key met their security and scalability requirements and have now made follow-on investments to grow their user base.”
The deal comes after BIO-key’s announcement of two new clients in the financial services sector, helping to illustrate the versatility of the company’s biometric security solutions as more organizations look for stronger, post-password options.
