David Lavorel has completed his climb to the top of SITA’s corporate ladder. Lavorel has been with SITA for 20 years, and has now been appointed as the company’s new CEO.
The decision comes courtesy of SITA’s Board of Directors. Lavorel will be taking over from outgoing CEO Barbara Dalibard, who has held the position for the past five years. During his tenure, Lavorel will be expected to keep SITA on its current trajectory, and to continue to push for digital transformation in the air travel industry.
“The air transport industry has been through an incredibly turbulent period,” said SITA Board Chair Omar Jefri. “As we look to recovery, digitalization of the industry is a key focus. David’s experience and knowledge of both the industry and SITA will be instrumental in cementing SITA’s position as a trusted partner, working with our shareholders to shape the future direction of the organization.”
Lavorel has held several other executive positions during his tenure at SITA. He most recently served as the CEO of SITA at Airports and Borders, after stepping into the role in June of 2020. Before that, he was the CEO of SITA for Aircraft. He has also worked as the SVP of Corporate Development and Head of the CEO office. At his various stops, Lavorel has been responsible for driving SITA’s continued growth, and for helping the company’s partners implement new connected technologies.
“David brings a deep conviction and commitment to delivering SITA’s vision as a vital industry partner,” added SITA Council President Adib Charif. “The SITA Council looks forward to working closely with him.”
SITA’s latest Air Transport IT Insights Report revealed that an increasing number of air industry stakeholders are looking to automate their passenger processing procedures. That covers everything from bag drop and heath checks all the way through to boarding as airlines try to deliver a more seamless (and more efficient) passenger experience.
