CyberLink’s FaceMe Tech to Appear in Network Optix VMS Solution

The video management specialist Network Optix will be integrating CyberLink’s FaceMe facial recognition algorithm into its entire portfolio of Nx Video Surveillance-as-a-Service (VSaaS) products, including its flagship Nx Witness VMS solution. The technology will enable face-based access control, and allow Nx Witness users to create watchlists of banned individuals.

According to CyberLink, the upgraded Nx Witness solution has potential applications in a number of different industries, ranging from retail and hospitality to smart city and industrial surveillance. For example, facial recognition can be used to automate time and attendance management for employees, or the system could be configured to send an alert whenever it spots a VIP client, allowing venue operators to deliver more attentive service.

The Nx VSaaS portfolio is based on Network Optix’s Nx Meta platform, which is an open-source and free-to-use platform that was designed to make it easier for companies to develop their own custom VSaaS solutions. The partnership with CyberLink will allow them to build facial recognition into those solutions, which will in turn allow them to track individuals and respond to trigger events in real-time.

The FaceMe engine was one of the most accurate facial recognition solutions in a recent round of NIST testing, and has also been updated to identify people wearing masks. The solution has already been integrated the VAST 2 VMS surveillance platform from VIVOTEK.
