CyberLink Provides Facial Recognition Software for Biometric Commercial Surveillance

CyberLink has formed a strategic partnership with ASA Computers that will lead to a more comprehensive facial recognition solution for commercial establishments. To that end, ASA will be integrating CyberLink’s FaceMe Security technology into its FR-1 security appliance.

Thanks to those FaceMe capabilities, venue operators will be able to configure the FR-1 to monitor the presence of specific individuals. For example, retailers that want to deliver better service can ask to receive a notification when regular or registered customers enter a store, or they can create a blacklist to alert security to the presence of anyone banned from the establishment. The FR-1 can also be used for access control and attendance tracking, since it can identify employees and mark the time when they enter the building.

FaceMe Security uses CyberLink’s U Messenger platform to send alerts, while the FR-1 itself is built with Vivotek cameras and comes with VAST2 Video Management software. Vivotek integrated the FaceMe engine into its own surveillance solution at the beginning of the year.

CyberLink and ASA are pitching the FR-1 to banks and other commercial buildings in addition to retail outlets. The FaceMe engine, meanwhile, has consistently performed well in the latest rounds of NIST testing. The solution has become increasingly popular in the past few months, and has already been deployed in Altek’s AI BOX and NEC’s new LAVIE PCs.
