CyberLink has expanded its partnership with VIVOTEK, announcing that its FaceMe facial recognition engine has now been integrated into VIVOTEK’s VAST 2 IP video management software (VMS) platform. The result is a comprehensive security solution that offers attendance and authentication capabilities in addition to surveillance.
CyberLink and VIVOTEK first started working together back in January, when VIVOTEK added facial recognition to its surveillance portfolio. The pairing allows VIVOTEK customers to identify the faces of people in security footage, including persons of interest appearing on blacklists or whitelists.
VAST 2, on the other hand, is a slightly more robust security offering that supplements surveillance with more targeted timekeeping and access control utilities. The system can record the time when employees arrive at work. It can also be configured to send a notification to system operators whenever it spots someone on a watch list, or when an important individual arrives at the venue for an appointment.
“CyberLink and VIVOTEK are providers of best-in-class software that, when combined, are capable of meeting the nuanced demands of facial authentication and integrated smart security solutions worldwide,” said CyberLink CEO Jau Huang. “We think there is an incredible opportunity for both us, and our customers around the world.”
As strategic partners, CyberLink and VIVOTEK are planning to work together to build the customer base for their joint solution. The two companies will host a series of online webinars in the months ahead, all in an effort to reach potential clients in Japan, the US, Latin America, and Taiwan.
CyberLink has updated FaceMe several times in the past few months, first to enhance its ability to recognize people who are wearing masks, and again to add thermal screening to watch for signs of COVID-19. The company’s technology has since appeared in a smart retail pilot that leveraged facial recognition to create a concept store with no staff on-site.
