“…Crossmatch is taking orders for engineering samples now, and is clearly aiming to drum up some market interest with its planned preview for Connect:ID.”
Crossmatch is hoping to steal a bit of the spotlight at next week’s Connect:ID exhibition with a preview of its forthcoming Nomad 30 Pocket Reader device.
As its name suggests, the device is a PIV FAP 30 certified fingerprint reader. Like other products in Crossmatch’s Nomad line – such as the Nomad 60 Wireless Reader, which recently attained FBI Appendix F and FAP 60 certification – it uses a capacitive thin-film transistor sensor designed to scan in outdoor and bright light environments, and to operate even with stained or tattooed fingers.
It’s also very compact, coming in at 95mm by 45mm by 8.5mm. In a statement announcing the device, Crossmatch asserted that it is “the thinnest and possibly most compact portable PIV reader on the market.”
The reader is slated for production this summer, and Crossmatch is taking orders for engineering samples now, clearly aiming to drum up some market interest with its planned preview for Connect:ID. The company will be showcasing the Nomad 30 Pocket Reader from booth #201 at the event, which is scheduled to run from May 1st to 2nd in Washington, DC.
