Credence ID CEO Joins President’s African Business Advisory Council

The US Department of Commerce has made Credence ID Founder, President, and CEO Bruce Hanson the latest addition to the President’s Advisory Council on Doing Business in Africa (PAC-DBIA). As a member of the PAC-DBIA, Hanson will help the administration overcome existing obstacles and improve business relationships between the US and Africa.

As the Founder and CEO of Credence, Hanson will bring considerable experience to his new position. The identity verification specialist has partnered with various organizations all over the African continent since 2014, notably providing fingerprint sensors to authenticate students taking state examinations in Nigeria. The program would later spread across West Africa as countries like Gambia, Ghana, and Sierra Leone picked up the technology.

Hanson will specifically advise the President on ways to approach African markets and operate successful businesses while remaining competitive on the international stage.

“Many challenges to be addressed relate to improving the policies and practices which facilitate U.S.-Africa trade engagements,” said Hanson. “The U.S. must keep the people of Africa and their welfare as the highest priority in addressing the impact of foreign business practices in some areas of Africa.”

Hanson will serve a two-year term with the PAC-DBIA, during which he will report to Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. Credence ID will be making an appearance at ID4Africa later this week, where it will be discussing a healthcare delivery project in Senegal.
