Mobile biometrics and credential reading technology company Credence ID has announced the launch of its CredenceCONNECT Version 2.0, a web-based management tool for mobile ID devices.
CONNECT 2.0 aims to give managers and administrators more control, insight and flexibility in the way they manage mobile ID devices that are deployed in the field, by allowing for the enrollment, identification and authentication of subjects and devices to be mapped, analyzed and managed remotely from any web browser.
“Administrators of mobile ID terminals often underestimate the challenges of managing and supporting dozens, hundreds or thousands of devices that are in the field or about to be deployed,” said Yash Shah, Credence ID CTO. “They have the difficult job of evaluating various SDKs, developing their applications, creating management tools to control how their terminals are performing and then they have to create deployment tools for commissioning the devices.”
Location tracking using an interactive Google Maps feature allows device administrators to see where a given device is located and where it has been within a user-specified timeframe, as well as giving them an overview of all devices within the map which can then be selected individually to determine how may enrollment, verification, and card reads each one has conducted, while also showing the terminals’ battery health along with other metrics.
Further elaborating as to the challenges that come with managing mobile ID devices, Shah said that “managers need to locate and support the devices in the field, remotely diagnose issues, and measure and report on performance…it’s a big job and CONNECT 2.0 is the only tool that anticipates these requirements for a healthy and successful deployment of mobile ID devices.”
CONNECT 2.0 also allows admins to schedule and push updates to targeted devices remotely, including OS, SDKs, APIs and applications; and it includes a LockDown utility that allows for the remote locking and data wiping of a device.
