CLEAR‘s biometrics-enabled expedited screening lanes are now open across all of the terminals at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL).
The development comes by way of an expansion that brought CLEAR security screening lanes to Terminal 4. CLEAR has been working with the Broward County Aviation Department, which administrates FLL, for nearly three years with respect to its biometric passenger screening program.
In announcing the expansion, FLL and CLEAR emphasized the public health and safety benefits of the CLEAR program, which supports the identity verification of passengers using iris recognition. Iris scanning does not require physical contact with a subject, thereby reducing the need for travelers to touch shared surfaces at the airport amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
“CLEAR has always brought our passengers a convenient and seamless experience, but the benefit its secure and touchless technology brings customers during this public health crisis is an added boon for our airport operations and our travelers,” affirmed Broward County Aviation Department Director Mark Gale. “Providing our customers with a safe and secure journey with partners like CLEAR is a top priority for our airport.”
CLEAR’s biometric passenger screening system isn’t its only solution for the COVID era. The company has also seen growing interest in its new Health Pass app, an immunity credential designed to help organizations to reopen safely.
That having been said, CLEAR’s business model remains primarily focused on its passenger screening program, with the company having renewed its partnership with Denver International Airport last month. The program also offers access applications in large-scale venues like sports stadiums, enabling CLEAR members to gain expedited entry with a biometric scan.
