Biometrics News – Fingerprint Recognition
CLEAR has partnered with the University of Texas to introduce biometric screening at the University’s Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin. The company will be operating enrollment pods at Gate 25, though anyone interested can begin the process online before heading to the stadium.
Once students are enrolled, they will be able to enter the stadium after scanning their fingerprint and their ticket. Enrollment is free for anyone with a school email address and an official government ID. After that, students can choose to purchase a discounted CLEAR Plus membership ($50/year), which allows them to take advantage of CLEAR’s screening services at other locations, including Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.
“This partnership provides Longhorns fans with a convenient option that will make our stadium operations more efficient,” said University of Texas Athletic Director Chris Del Conte.
Darrell K Royal is the first college stadium to partner with CLEAR, though the company has previously partnered with numerous professional sports organizations. Its biometric access control solution has been deployed at Major League Baseball stadiums in Baltimore and Cleveland, while its fingerprint recognition tech has been leveraged for naked payments at self-checkout kiosks at Citi Field in New York.
CLEAR opened an office in Austin in the fall of 2018.
