CLEAR Expands Airport Screening Program to South Carolina

CLEAR is bringing its biometric airport screening solution to the Carolinas. The company has now set up expedited CLEAR lanes at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in South Carolina, making it the first airport in the region to deploy the technology.

The CLEAR program allows registered users to pass through airport security with a simple biometric scan. Members simply approach a CLEAR lane when they get to the airport, and CLEAR will verify their identity with either iris or fingerprint recognition. A CLEAR agent will then escort the individual to the front of the TSA screening line once everything has been confirmed.

The solution negates the need to show a passport or a driver’s license at a security checkpoint, and in doing so enables a more streamlined passenger experience. It also reduces the amount of time that passengers spend waiting in security queues.

According to CLEAR, the new lanes will create 17 jobs at the airport, and add $1.5 million to the local economy on an annual basis. The company’s service is now available at more than 40 airports across the country, with California’s Ontario Airport and Florida’s Palm Beach International Airport both having installed their own CLEAR lanes in the past 12 months. Logan International Airport in Boston also added more lanes to its existing CLEAR screening program.
